| In 2005, Applied Communications developed a guidebook to help public officials make decisions regarding investments in public broadband networks. The Guidebook is now available for free download at the AppCom web site. The Guidebook is based on data gathered from 50 communities throughout the country who have installed broadband networks. The case studies include technologies from fiber -to-the-home, wireless, cable and broadband over powerline. Communities range in size from 500 to 500,000. A bibliography at the end of each chapter provides additional references. Chapters include the following:
1. Overview
2. Community Benefits
3. Business Models
4. Strategic Decisions
5. Appendix (Database Summary, Web Resources, Sample forms, Glossary)
To download the Guidebook, go to the "Documents" section of the web site and click on the "Telecommunications" tab. |
